Stephen P. Wetzel Sr., age 62, of Milan, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, August 28, 2014.
He was born September 10, 1951 in New London to the late Roy and Verna (Gross) Wetzel.
He attended Western Reserve, EHOVE and graduated from Edison High School. He worked many years at Midway Parts in Norwalk and Monroeville and at Action Auto. He enjoyed golf, bowling, repairing cars and engines and following his grandchildren with their activities. He enjoyed baseball and softball and an avid Brown's fan. He was President of his Monday and Friday golf league at Sycamore Hills in Norwalk.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Barbara (Lierenz) Wetzel of Milan; children, Stephen (Cynthia) Wetzel of Milan, Jennifer Wetzel of Norwalk, Dawn (Brett) Schlottag of Norwalk, Angela Risner of Elyria, Cliff O'Dell of Norwalk and Carla Liss of New London; Paw Paw to 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson and one on the way; siblings, Dennis (Barb) Wetzel of Milan, Lawrence (Sandy) Wetzel of Olena, Chris (Vicki) Wetzel of Norwalk, Joyce (Bill) Sexton of Milan, Mike (Roseanne) Wetzel of IN and Ronald Wetzel of GA; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roger Wetzel; and nephew, Jeremy Wetzel.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Freedom Christian Fellowship Church, 4935 Route 601, Norwalk. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
