Evelyn LaRose Olcott, age 99, of Largo, FL, passed away Thursday, September 04, 2014 at Royal Oaks Manor, Florida.
She was born January 8, 1915 in Collins, OH to the late Clayton and Ione (Curry) Lehnert.
She graduated from Bowling Green State University, taught at Hartland School and all eight grades in a one-room school.
She was a member of the West Hartland United Methodist Church and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo. She was a former member of the Farm Women's Federation, Rainbow Farm Women's Club and the Christian Women's Club. She also was an avid supporter of Abigail Ministries. She belonged to Super Sixties in Florida and was a member of the Huron County Republican Women.
She is survived by her children, Joan L. Eungard-Brown, Ruth M. Kraus, Kathleen E. Davis and Lynn H. Olcott; grandchildren, Todd, Brad, Susan, Michael, Brian Joseph, Jason, Julie, Brian Lynn, Derek and Lindsey; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley E. Olcott; sisters, Mabel Rotruck and Norma Davidson; and a granddaughter, Renee Kraus.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Celebration of Life service will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. James McClain will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
