John "Jack" J. Old, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday morning, September 6, 2014 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Jack was born on May 12, 1944 in Sandusky, OH to the late Bradley G. and Ruth (Raab) Olds.
Jack was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary's High School and was a Veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 42 years and was a proud member of UAW Local #1216 serving as a bargaining committeeman and an ESSP Representative. Jack was a life member of the AMVETS Post #17, and a member of the American Legion, Eagles and VFW. He was also an active member and supporter of AA.
Jack is survived by his wife, Joyce (Nutzki) Old, whom he married on February 19, 1966; daughter, Denise (Joe) Hermes of Sandusky; son, Mike Old of Clyde; six grandchildren, Heather and John Rose, Sara Woodruff, Crystal Schultz, and Dylan and Madison Hermes; six great-grandchildren; brother, David (Lois) Olds of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Marilyn Prieur; two nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by one brother in infancy.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Fr. Philip Feltman presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
