Robert "Bob" A. Rickard, 69, of Sandusky, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 9, 2014 in Stein Hospice Care Center. He lived to see his 47th wedding anniversary.
He was born on October 27, 1944 in Sandusky to the late Ervin and Juanita (Wheeler) Rickard.
He graduated from Perkins High School in 1963. Always a worker, Bob began to work at the age of 13 at Miranda's diner. He also worked for over 30 years at both Cedar Villa and Roman Villa as a cook and kitchen manager, and he retired from Ford Motor Company in 2004 after over 41 years of service.
Bob was an avid sports fan who especially loved the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He always loved racing, and in his earlier years he raced stock cars. He loved to fish, read, and always loved his dogs. In recent years, Bob spent most of his time with his family. He always attended and supported his grandchildren's sporting events.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra M. (Brown) Rickard, whom he married on September 9, 1967; sons, Shane (Lana) Rickard, of Brownstown Twp., Michigan and Chad (Jen) Rickard, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Samantha, Will, Niko, Ben, and Zach; sisters, Linda (Rich) Lierman, of Wahoo, Nebraska and Leila Jean Harris, of Huron; brother, Ervin (Mary) Rickard, of Sandusky; mother-in-law, Jan Brown; sister-in-law, Becky (Tom) Schwanger; brother-in-law, Jimmy Brown; beloved dog, Peekaboo; and many special friends, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday, September 15, 2014 from 4-7 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Following visitation, and at Bob's request, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be on Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Those in attendance are welcome to join the family for a luncheon in the Toft Event Room.
