Joyce Ann (Ebner) (Heinzerling) Schwanger

Joyce Ann (Ebner) (Heinzerling) Schwanger, 76 , of Castalia and a winter resident of Ft. Meade, Florida, passed away late Sunday evening, September 14, 2014 in Lutheran Memorial Home, Sandusky.

She was born on August 10, 1938 in Sandusky to the late Lewis and Augusta (Pigorsch) Ebner.

She was a 1956 graduate of Sandusky High School, where she was active in Swan Club, band, and was a majorette. She worked as a secretary for 31 years for Sandusky City Schools, in the Administration and Principals' offices, retiring in 1993.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky and the SHS Alumni Association. She enjoyed her family, fishing, yard work, baking, and sewing.

Joyce is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Schwanger; son, Daniel (Cheri) Heinzerling, of Garfield Heights, OH; daughter, Dena Lucas, of Sandusky; stepsons, Daniel (Debbie) Schwanger, Jimmy (Lisa) Schwanger, Todd (Kim) Schwanger, Mike (Amy) Schwanger, all of Sandusky, and Nelson Eads, of Greenfield, Ohio; sisters, Lois Briggs, of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and Delores (Charles) Flohr, of Sandusky; brothers, Lewis (Mary) Ebner, of Portland, Oregon and Donald (Karen) Ebner, of Monroeville, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; stepbrothers, Dennis and Lyle Marquardt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Irene (Marquardt) Ebner; stepdaughter, Laura LaCourse Schwanger; and brother-in-law, James Briggs.

Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, with Rev. John Mawhirter officiating. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
