Robert E. Houghtlen, 73, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, September 15, 2014, in Gaymont Nursing Center, Norwalk, Ohio.
He was born June 1, 1941 in Peru Twp., Ohio to the late William M. and Clara L. (Sennhenn) Houghtlen.
He had lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he was a restaurateur, and had also lived in Ocala, Florida, returning to this area 5 years ago. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed cooking.
He is survived by his sisters, Shirley J. (Ralph) Missler, Phyliss Hoyt, and Debbie Snyder, by his brothers, Michael (Kathy) Houghtlen, Ronald C. Houghtlen, Daniel Houghtlen, and Thomas E. Houghtlen, and by his step son, Jeff Granger and family, of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Robert is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry D. Houghtlen, and James W. Houghtlen. The family would like to send a special note of thanks to the staff of Gaymont Nursing Center, Stein Hospice, and Fisher Titus Medical Center, for all you have done.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Adrian Doll will officiate. Burial will follow in North Fairfield Cemetery.
