Porter Marion Wallace, 73, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday afternoon, September 16, 2014 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Porter was born on July 13, 1941 in Huron, OH to the late Porter and Ella (Chapman) Wallace.
Porter was a 1959 graduate from Huron High School. He was employed with the former Kenner, Sandusky and Clay Company, operated the Huron Pizza Parlor in the mid 60's and retired from the Ford Motor Company in 2000 after 38 years of service. Porter was a member of the First Faith Community Church, the National Mustang Club of America, the NRA, the Huron Masonic Lodge, and the Erie County Conservation Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed cars, reading, movies, camping, ballroom and line dancing, hunting, billiards, traveling, playing Santa Claus at Christmas time which always made the kids smile and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Porter is survived by his wife, Claudia (Hegerling) Wallace, whom he married on November 25, 1959. He is also survived by his daughter, Martha Ann Hendrock of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Roberta Wallace of Milan and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Porter is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Wallace and his 2 sisters, Louise Wallace Rakes and Ruth Ann Wallace Foss.
Friends may call on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also be received Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 9:30 AM until the time of funeral services at 10:30 AM at First Faith Community Church, 222 E. Jefferson St., Sandusky with John Apple Pastor presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
