Lillian Mable Viars

Lillian Mable Viars, age 87 of Norwalk, passed away Friday evening, September 19, 2014 on route to Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

She was born the eldest of 10 children, to the late William T. and Olive M. Viars (Cundiff), in Soldier, Kentucky on June 30, 1927.

In 1945, her father, moved his family to Shelby, Ohio. She came to Norwalk in 1953 and remained there ever since. She enjoyed driving her car and country rides, visiting friends and family. She loved to be around children and also enjoyed spending time with her Great Grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye. She had been retired, but had worked at The Colonial Hotel, for many years, until its demise in 1977 on Whittlesey Ave. in Norwalk. She also was a custodian at Huron County Human Services until she retired in 1989.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Joyce and Michael (Perry) of Monroeville; son, James E. Viars of Norwalk; grandchildren, Mary M. Clyde of Jacksonville, Fl, Robert A. and Amy (Jenkins) Figley of Norwalk; great grandchildren, Ariel M. Smith and Christian Noyes of Jacksonville, FL, Ashley N. Smith of Sandusky, Kyrstin Jenkins and Izak Bridgett of Norwalk; and one great-great grandson, Vincent Ross of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, William E. Viars James C.(Anita) Viars of Shelby, Ohio; Vaughn E. Viars of Soldier, KY; sisters, Phyliss T. Viars of Mansfield, Ohio, Madge L.(Otis) McBroom of Bellevue, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry D. Milliman in 2012; brother, Roger Kern Viars of KY; sister, Joyce L. Kimmet of KY; a half sister, Wanda Knapp of Niles, Ohio; and two infant brothers at childbirth.

The family would like to especially thank Amy Figley, who helped with Mable at her home, in her last years.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00-8:00pm at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hester Cemetery.
