David P. White, Sr., 82, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday evening, September 19, 2014 in Norwalk Memorial Home.
He was born August 6, 1932 in New London, Ohio, to the late Phillip M. and Mildred L. (Smith) White, and was a lifelong New London and Norwalk area resident.
David was a 1951 graduate of New London High School, and a 1955 graduate of Bowling Green State University. He was a First Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Field Artillery Unit from 1955 to 1957, and served in Korea. He was the former owner of White Soft Water Company, a company founded by his father, was a salesman of education materials to public and private libraries, and was a former realtor for Century 21. David was a salesman for Phil Leak Company, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Norwalk Elks, Ducks Unlimited, and the Ohio Decoy Carver and Collectors Association. David enjoyed collecting duck decoys, playing Pinochle and Gin Rummy, fishing, hunting, golf, and sports. David loved his Labs and spoiled them with car rides, treats, and walks. He was a man of integrity, and was a role model for his family. David's sense of humor, and dry wit, often made people smile.
He is survived by his children, David P. (Deb) White, Jr. of Wakeman, Ohio, Douglas A. White of Norwalk, Ohio, and Holly A. (David) Harvey of Norwalk, Ohio, and by his grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Haley, Andrew, Steve, and Shawn.
David was preceded in death by his wife, and high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Z. (Jacobs) White in 2007. They were married September 12, 1951. David was also preceded in death by his brother, Phillip M. White, Jr. in 2009.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Vince Cooper, Pastor of the Oasis Assembly of God, Norwalk, Ohio, will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
