Karen Sue (Nestor) Barnum

Karen Sue (Nestor) Barnum, 62, of Sandusky, passed away on Saturday morning, October 4, 2014 in Stein Hospice Care Center.

She was born on October 21, 1951 in Sandusky to the late Harold and Nancy (Meisler) Nestor.

Karen graduated from Sandusky High School in 1970. She worked for 30 years for Sandusky City Schools, and was an avid Blue Streak - volunteering countless hours for numerous school events and causes.

She loved entertaining and cooking, traveling, riding the Cedar Point ferris wheel, and everything about the water, especially the Lake Erie islands and the beach. She was quirky, always with a quote or saying, and could make anyone laugh. She will be missed by her many, long-time and close friends.

Karen is survived by her three children, Christy (Brian) Burre, of Spring, Texas, Kimberly (Tim) Adderholdt, of Woodstock, Georgia, and Brian (Shannon) Barnum, of San Tan Valley, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Brandyn, Ava, Brian, Avery, Skylar, and Sydney; sister, Cathy (Mark) Pifer, of Sandusky; brother, Steve (Kathy) Nestor, of Huron; and many close friends.

At Karen's request, cremation will take place. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 4-7 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Private memorial services will be held at the funeral home with Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating. Inurnment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

The family would like to extend an invitation to those who knew Karen to join them for a luncheon at the Sandusky Yacht Club, 529 E. Water St., on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 1 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen's name to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Erie County Cancer Services, 505 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
