Donald D. Cobb Sr., age 77, of Castalia, died Monday morning, October 20, 2014, at the Hospice House of North Central Ohio, Ashland, following a brief illness.
He was born September 7, 1937, in Urbana, IL., and graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield, IL in 1955.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Church of God. Don worked and retired from New Departure, and was a member of the UAW local 913. He loved to collect coins, stamps, and read books.
He is survived by his son Donald (Lisa) Cobb Jr.; five grandchildren Emily, Katie, Brandon, Kristen, and Caleb Cobb; sister Shirley Freitag; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife Frances (Vieira) Cobb; parents Virgil and Mary Grace (Bangert) Cobb; and sister Norma Leone.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia and from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky. Rev. Samuel Studer will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
