Mabel C. Martin, 91, of Monroeville passed away Wednesday evening, October 29, 2014 in the Bellevue Hospital as a result of a stroke.
She was born February 19, 1923 in Monroeville, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville and a former member of the Madonna Study Club.
Mabel was a lifetime farm wife. For many years she enjoyed raising chickens and selling eggs to neighbors and friends. Mabel also enjoyed keeping up on world affairs, most of all she loved baking cookies for her great grandchildren. Mabel was very prayerful which included the rosary daily.
She is survived by her son, Gerald (Sharon) Martin, Monroeville; one daughter, Liz (Dale) Worcester, Monroeville; six grandchildren, Molly (Tim) Porter, Bellevue, Justin (Sarah) Martin, Monroeville, Brittany (Greg) Felder, Bellevue, Luke Worcester, Monroeville, Kate (Tom) Brause, Bucyrus, Becky (Joe) Rospert, Collins; eight great grandchildren, Brynlee Porter, Caleb, Caden, Collin and Keira Martin, Lilly Mabel Felder, Mallory and Garrett Brause; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband Philip in 2011; one son, Tom in 2005; her parents, Carl A. and Bertha (Phillips) Smith; one sister, Marcella Miller; one brother, Carl J. Smith.
Friends may call Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 3-7:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville where the Rosary will be recited at 2:30 PM Sunday. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 3, 2014 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Father Bill Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
