Alverta Alice Jackson, 78, of Sandusky, passed away November 2, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 11, 1936 in Painesville, Ohio to the late Arthur and Lucille (Younker) Hubble.
Alice was employed as a cook at The Sandusky Yacht Club for 23 years and then at The Ohio Veterans Home for 22 years, until retiring in 2007. Aside from cooking, in her spare time, Alice enjoyed shopping, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family, friends and her dog.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven L. (Rachel) Jackson of Saint Louis, MO and Douglas W. Jackson of Sandusky, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Mary Jackson of Defiance; six grandchildren, Allie, Vincent, Nicholas, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Rebecca; two great-grandsons, Johnny and Samuel; three sisters, Shirley Jacobs, Arlene Stiadle and Harriet Smith; brother, Arthur Hubble Jr.; her furry companion, Sasha and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Mark L. Jackson in 1994; her life partner, Carl "Bud" Gill in 2004; her siblings, Laverne Snider, Evelyn Wobser, Betty Hubble and Phyllis Galaska.
At the family's request cremation will take place. A celebration of life will take place in Alice's honor on November 4, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky, OH
