Charles W. "Bud" Armstrong, 85, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 9, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Irvin "Army" and Mary (Long) Armstrong.
Bud graduated from Allegheny High School in 1947 and managed several restaurants in the Pittsburgh area for 10 years. He came to Lorain, Ohio in 1959, where he met the love of his life, Sharen L. (Newman) Armstrong, whom he married August 10, 1963. Bud worked as an automotive inspector at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain, from where he retired in 1994 after 31 years of service. Before moving to the Norwalk area, he was a member for many years of the Church of the Redeemer in Lorain, was a member of U.A.W. Local #425, Eagles, and was a Master Mason in Crescent Lodge #576 of Midvale, Pennsylvania. Bud loved sports, especially football, and could often be found swearing at his Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoons. He was a high school track star, played sandlot football, played in the U.A.W. softball league, and was a Class A bowler in several Lorain area bowling leagues. He enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle, nurturing tropical fish, reading about sports, and growing plants and flowers. Above all, he loved dancing with his wife. Bud was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and very proud of his family.
In addition to Sharen, his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his five sons: Shawn Armstrong of Norwalk, Ohio, Scott Armstrong of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Mark (Beth) Armstrong of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jeff (Lil) Armstrong of Springville, Indiana, and Charles Armstrong of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and by his beloved Toy Poodle, Cody.
Bud was preceded in death by his sister, Carmen Finnigan, and by his first grandchild, Jason Armstrong.
