Thomas "Tom" G. Neill, Jr., 76, of Castalia, passed away on Friday morning, November 14, 2014 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on February 8, 1938 in Sandusky to the late Thomas G. Neill, Sr. and Elizabeth R. (Burre) Neill.
He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1956, and retired from Pennsylvania/Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Tom was a lifetime member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ in Sandusky. He had a passion for restoring classic vehicles. He was always working on a project, or two, and was on the lookout for the next one. Even with a physical challenge, Tom was more than willing to help someone else. He also had a deep love of music, especially country and gospel. On most occasions, you could find him at home in front of his computer, or at one of the local social clubs, singing his favorite karaoke songs.
His family would like to give a special thank you to the extraordinary friends who helped with his "projects" and passions: Artie, Aaron, Jim, Danny, and Dennis.
Tom loved life and chose to never give up on a goal, whether it was to walk again or complete something in the garage with Pat. His strength and perseverance were respected by those who knew and loved him. And we all look forward to seeing Tom again, somewhere down the road.
Tom is survived by his sister, Arlene (Harry) Thompson, of Sandusky; children, Richard (Sandy) Neill, of Las Vegas, Francis "Pat" (Cindy) Cambra, of Castalia, Kim (Scott) Neill-Stevenson, of Rotunda, Florida, Tomi (Chris) Cambra Mayer, of College Station, TX, and Scott P. Cambra, of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; aunts; cousins; and a very special friend, Julie Johnson, who encouraged and supported him in every way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora "Corky" (Roth) Neill, in 2012; first wife, Harriet (Gordon) Neill, in 1994; grandparents, Thomas G. Neill, Delpha (Raymond) Neill Alspaugh, and Adam and Muriel V. (Ommert) Burre; brother, William R. Neill; uncles; and other relatives.
At Tom's request, there will be no visitation and cremation will take place at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
