Dorl L. Ely, 86, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Fisher Titus Medical Center.
He was born August 11, 1928 in Sydney, Ohio, to the late William and Ruth (Wright) Ely, and came to this area in the mid 1940's from Port Clinton, Ohio.
Dorl retired from Lake Erie Construction Company with over 40 years of service. He was a former employee of the W.L. Mead Trucking Company, and the Chicago Express Trucking Company. Dorl was a former member of the Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club where he enjoyed playing dartball. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, restoring vintage cars, sailing, and traveling.
Dorl is survived by his children, Daniel L. (Jennifer) Ely of Norwalk, Ohio, Dennis W. Ely of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cynthia M. (Charles) Alt of Norwalk, Ohio, by his grandchildren, Jessica Mewhinney, Sarah Schafer, and Charles Alt, Jr., by 7 great grandchildren, by his brother, Ord Ely of Uniontown, Ohio, and by his sister, Mary Ruth Patrick of Norwalk, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ely.
Friends may call on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
