Walter Samko, 96, born June 14, 1918 in Steubenville, Ohio, passed away from this present life of suffering into Heaven, on December 2, 2014, where he will no longer have pain or grief. He was a recent resident of Admiral's Point in Huron, Ohio, under the care of Stein Hospice.
Walter was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. He was a self-made business man, having owned and operated Samko's Carpet Service for many years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and bowling.
He leaves behind his daughter, Penny (James) Williams and two sons, John (Sue) and Randy (Char); five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nephew, Peter J. Samko and niece Marla Samko. He will also be missed by his special friend, Mae Comparette.
Mr. Samko was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet (Delacerda); his parents, John and Jennie Samko and his brother Peter Samko.
A private family service will be held at Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky with Pastor Dan Miller presiding. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Color Guard.
