Myatt Clifford Wolfe, 76, of Castalia, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, in the Cleveland Clinic.

Myatt was born in Burns, Tennessee, on February 27, 1938.

He was the second of 9 children born to the late Myatt and Dollie (Cavendar) Wolfe. When he was 11, the family moved to Pikeville Kentucky, where he lived until he married and moved to Sandusky Ohio. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, one sister Faye (Wolfe) Alley, and one brother Thomas Jerry Wolfe.

He married Mary Elizabeth (Chapman) Wolfe on September 6, 1958, in Wise, Virginia, and she survives. They enjoyed 56 devoted years together.

Together Myatt and Mary raised their children in rural Castalia Ohio, where they still reside. Myatt enjoyed his work at Sandusky Ford Motor Co., where he retired in 1998. Memorable family gatherings, family dinners, and just visits, were important to him. Later his grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great joy in his life. He liked car shows and photography; however his favorite hobby was playing his guitar and banjo, either alone or with friends. It was always a privilege for everyone to hear him play.

Myatt was very blessed with a large family. Surviving immediate family members are his three children: Teresa L. (Tom) Schmidt, of Green Springs; Clifford Michael Wolfe, of Castalia; and Shellie M (Jerry) Parker, of Wakeman. Myatt was also blessed with and proud to have several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who survive him. They are six grandchildren: Carrie (Mike) Wright, Sandusky; Alicia Kaeppner, Logan; Thomas (Nicole) Schmidt Jr, Vermillion; Chelsea M. Wolfe, Castalia; Mitchell E. Cramer, Wakeman; Mark A Mizer, Sandusky; plus seven great-grandchildren: Ethan and Evan Wright, Sandusky; Aidan, Mia, Abe, and Manye Schmidt, Vermillion; and Gracie Kaeppner, Logan.

Myatt is also survived by five siblings: Robert (Chessie) Wolfe, Mary (Milford) Damron, Wanda (Ray) Bartley all of Pikeville Kentucky; Patsy Ann Tackett of Louisville Kentucky; Donna Sue Smith of Monroe Michigan; Donald (Karen) Wolfe of Lomansville Kentucky. There are also several brothers and sisters-in law, and countless nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, in the Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where family services will be Friday, Dec. 12, 2014. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Erie County, 505 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
