Edmond R. "Fast Eddy" Martin, 78, of Monroeville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 surrounded by his family.
Ed was born November 21, 1936 in Caribou, Maine to the late Edmond and Agnes (Sirois) Martin.
He attended a one room grade school and graduated from Caribou High School. He also attended Maine University and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956 - 1962 as a radioman aboard the USS Shangri.la and in the Naval Security Group.
He was a truck driver for almost 50 years, locally driving for International Metal Hose, Bellevue, OH and retiring from R & L Norwalk in 1999. Ed also worked part time for Underground Utilities and Midway, Inc. of Monroeville until the time of his illness.
Ed was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. John Neuman Council of the K of C and the Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711. He enjoyed family and many, many friends along with traveling, life in general and playing cribbage.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol (Tyler) Martin; children, Lori (Richard) Lanham, Edmond J. Martin and Michelle (Jeff) Little, all of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Kevin, Cassandra, Alisha, Robert, Emily and Nikolas; two great-grandchildren; along with many, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brother-in-laws, Joan Holton, Doris and Arnold Thompson, and Gloria and Fred Beach.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, Monroe Street, Monroeville, OH 44847, where the K of C will pray the rosary at 3:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Broad St., Monroeville, OH, 44847 with the Reverend William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroeville.
