Ruth Joyce Steinmetz, 85, residing in Vermilion, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at Anchor Lodge Nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Ruth was born on August 23, 1929 in Clyde, Ohio to the late Robert and Helen (Swartz) Pittenger.
Ruth was a homemaker for several years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching, shopping, watching Cleveland Indians baseball games and spending time with friends and family.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Bill) Stepp of Vermilion, OH; three sons, Harvey Steinmetz of Vermilion, OH, Gary Steinmetz of TX and Charles (Zee) Steinmetz of CA; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Peg Tuttamore of Bellevue, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey E. Steinmetz; her son, David Steinmetz; brother, Robert Pittenger, Jr., three sisters, Alice Ireland Gaston, Betty Eishen and Kathryn Marten.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Vermilion E and R Church, 752 Grand St., Vermilion, OH. 44089. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements.
