Robert Owen O`Hara Hollis, 64, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, December 20, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
Robert was born on November 30, 1950 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Robert Owen and Shirley Laverne (Walker) Hollis.
Robert was a 1969 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was employed as a Police Officer at the Perkins Police Department in Sandsuky, Ohio for over 20 years. He then transferred to the Upper Sandsuky Poice Department where he became the Chief of Police for 12 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Sandusky Masonic Lodge and Fraternal Order of the Police. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, sailing, traveling to the Florida Keys, shooting at the gun range, building model airplanes, and spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren..
Robert is survived by his wife, Bobbie (Vanwhy) Hollis, whom he married on August 13, 1971; his daughter, Tara Hollis of Sandusky, OH; three grandchildren, Erica, Alexander, and Emily; two great-grandchildren, Darron and Ellyonna and one great-granddaughter on the way; sisters, Linda (John) Neafsey of Clayton, GA, and LaVonna (Peter) Tetzlaff of New Berlin, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by son, Eric Sean Hollis in 1991 and his sister, Nancy L. Hollis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert's memory to his family, in care of his wife, Bobbie Hollis.
Friends may call on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 9:00 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd., Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory are assisting the family with the arrangements.
