Donald Edward Stout, 92, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, December 26, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Donald was born on April 22, 1922 in Sandusky, OH to the late Edward and Glenna (Smart) Stout.
Donald was a 1940 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a master craftsman in carpentry working for Sandusky Roofing, Stout's Home Improvement and Sandusky Home Interiors for 45 plus years before retiring. Donald was a member of the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association. He spent his early adult life with field trial dogs and show horses throughout the U.S. and Canada. He was one of the foremost authorities on poultry genetics and breeding. In his youth he was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Donald always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Donald is survived by his sons, Edward Stout of Sandusky, Gregory Stout of Pembroke Pines, FL and Morgan (JoAnne Overson) Stout of Sandusky; granddaughter, Brittany Stout of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-laws, Vera (Doughty) Stout and Patricia (Kline) Stout both of Sandusky; brother-in-law, Henry Gurtz of Catawba Island; 29 nieces and nephews; his children's mother, Margaret (Hill) Stout of Sandusky and numerous other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his brothers, Roscoe, Loyal, Wesley and Richard Stout; sisters, Evangeline Connors, Madeline Wilcox, Ella Hermes, Muriel Gurtz and a sister in infancy.
Friends may call on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 am in the funeral home with the Reverend Burton Cantrell presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
