Mattie Sue Simmons, 95, residing in Oakwood Village, OH and formerly of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Oakwood Village.
She was born on March 1, 1919 in Carnesville, GA, to the late John and Minnie (Bellamy) Crawford.
She was retired from the former New Departure Hyatt, division of General Motors in Sandusky.
She was a member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Church, Sandusky, and the Order of Eastern Stars.
She is survived by her daughters, Marschelle Head of Oakwood Village, OH, and Anitrd Lynn Alls of Warren, OH; son, Warren D. Simmons of Sandusky, OH; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband , Warren O. Simmons in 2002; parents; three sisters; and four brothers.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 8, 2015, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:30 A.M. in Mount Zion of Oakwood Village, One Mount Zion Circle, Oakwood Village, OH 44146. Rev. Thomas Darden, Sr. will provide the Eulogy. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 A.M. in Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens A.M.E. Church, 312 Neil St., Sandusky, OH, 44870.
