Mary Ann Ott, 85, of Monroeville, Ohio, passed away Saturday evening, January 3, 2015, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born September 6, 1929 in a log cabin in Franks, Ohio, to the late Albert and Hilda (Brown) Bertsch and was a lifelong area resident.
Mary Ann was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the Women of St. Alphonsus. She was a farm wife, and was a loving mother and grandmother. Mary Ann enjoyed baking, gardening, bird watching, nature, and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
She is survived by her husband, Paul D. Ott whom she married November 24, 1956. Mary Ann is also survived by her children, Darlene (David) Krupp of Norwalk, Ohio, Paul (Mimi) Ott of Monroeville, Ohio, Linda (Larry) Hanneman of Norwalk, Ohio, Dennis (Jill) Ott of Norwalk, Ohio, Nancy (Scott) Sisson of Norwalk, Ohio, and David Ott of Monroeville, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Taylor Krupp, Colton, Mitchell, Amelia, Eli, and Trask Ott, Andrew, Amanda, Michael, and Josh Hanneman, and Justin Cramer, and by her sisters, Theresa Schafer of Monroeville, Ohio, Jean Keller of Norwalk, Ohio, Betty (Tom) Adelman of Norwalk, Ohio, and Anita Bertsch of Defiance, Ohio.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her infant son, Andrew, in 1958, and by her sister, Rita Bertsch.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. William Pifher and Rev. Robert Kill will officiate. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
