Krissie Lynn (Rice) Wood, 57, of Castalia, passed away Monday afternoon January 5, 2015 in the Stein Hospice Care Center following a three year battle with cancer.
She was born December 27, 1957 in Sandusky and was a 1976 graduate of Margaretta High School.
Kris was employed as a Deputy Clerk at the Sandusky Municipal Court from 2003 through 2013. Prior to this, she worked at the Periodical Publishers Service Bureau for 27 years as Assistant Manager of cover count.
Kris was a former member of the Women's Recreational Pool League. She loved to play cards and hit up the casinos, especially in Las Vegas. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to Amish Country. Kris was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She loved to be around people and made friends very easily.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Gary D. "Woody" Wood who she married on November 21, 1981; one daughter, Jillyn Joy Wood of Castalia; one sister, Bonnie Keegan of Castalia; two brothers, George Rice of Castalia and Dale (Denise) Rice of Fremont; brother-in- law, Bill (Wilma) Wood of Castalia; sister-in-law, Rhonda Rice of Castalia; special uncle, James "Bill" Vanderhoof of Sandusky, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Charlotte (Wieber) Rice; one brother, Michael Rice; one brother-in-law, Robert Keegan; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Willowdean (Lambert) Wood, who she was very close and one special aunt, Lucille Vanderhoof.
Friends may call Friday, January 9, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky and on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM in the Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington Street, Castalia. The Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Castalia Cemetery.
