Dwight E. Morner, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 14, 2015 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Dwight was born on August 15, 1924 in Trenton, OH to the late Arnold and Helen (Grafft) Morner.
Dwight was a 1942 graduate from Oakwood High School and graduated from Miami University in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Force who proudly served his country during World War II in England, France and Germany. He was employed as an accountant at Dayton Power & Light, Top Value Enterprises and then as CFO at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Washington Court House, OH. He also had a private accounting practice in Dayton and Fayette County. Dwight served for many years as treasurer and Sunday school leader at Grace United Methodist Church in Fayette County.
Dwight is survived by his daughter, Jane Morner of Sandusky; son, Thomas (Margo) Morner of Eagle, WI; grandchildren, Cazimir and Celia Morner, Amoureena Klawitter and Finis Morner; great-grandchildren, Eve and Jakob Klawitter and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Dwight is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie (Leonard) Morner on November 15, 2013; sister, Janet Coombs and brother, James Morner.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Trinity United Methodist, 214 E. Jefferson St, Sandusky with Rev. Douglas Winner presiding. An additional visitation will take place Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at Tobias Funeral Home 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, Beavercreek, OH.
