Mitchell Eugene Gowrylok, Jr.

Mitchell Eugene Gowrylok, Jr., 86 of Norwalk, passed away January 22, 2014.

He was born May 23, 1928 in South Amherst, Ohio to the late Helen B. (Hassinger) and Mitchell E. (Mike) Gowrylok Sr. Mitch lived in Elyria and came to Norwalk to attend school.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk, Ohio. Mitch worked at the Norwalk Dairy, Meek's Bakery, Kroger, and A & P Grocery Store. He later joined the United States Army where he served four years in Germany. Mitch retired from Columbia Gas in 1993 after 36 years of service, and was a member of the Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club. Mitch enjoyed playing dart-ball, camping, fishing, making Christmas cookies, yard work, gardening, spending time with his family and lifelong Maple Street friends.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Ann (Leidorff) Gowrylok, by his daughters, Shanon (Russ) Bristol of Berlin Heights, Ohio, Sheryl (Matt) Middeldorf of Strongsville, Ohio, and Shirlene (Mark) Zorn of Norwalk, Ohio, by his sister, Shirley (James) Obermiller of Oak Harbor, Ohio, by six grandchildren, Reagan (Cecil) Habermacher of Austin, Texas, Rory (Andy) Cullen of Dayton, Ohio, Adam Zorn of Norwalk, Ohio, Carli Middeldorf of Strongsville, Ohio, Emma Middeldorf of Strongsville, Ohio and Trevor Zorn of Norwalk, Ohio, and four great-grandchildren, Avery Habermacher, Hudson Cullen, Tucker Cullen, and Delanie Cullen.

Mitch was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Maynard D. and Joyce Gowrylok, and by his brother-in-law, James Obermiller.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, followed by services on Monday, January 26, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Ann Marshall will officiate.
