Harold Gene Garman, 79, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday morning, January 25, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 28, 1935 in Clyde, OH to the late Ivan O. and Dorothy (Dymond) Garman.
Harold was a 1953 graduate of Bellevue High School. He was employed by Columbia Gas for 27 years. He was also the co-owner and operator of the Mecca Motel for several years. Harold was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, AWANA worker and Sunday school teacher, he was also a board member of Child Evangelism Fellowship. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, traveling, and family gatherings with his loving family.
Harold is survived by his wife, Luci (Frederick) Garman; sons, Jeffrey (Mary) of Sandusky, Daniel (Barbara) of MO, Robert (Sophia) of CA and Andrew (Donna) Garman of PA; daughter, Heather (Scott) Russell of Sandusky; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandsons; brothers, Louis (Artice) of Sandsuky, Dale (Linda) of Bellevue and Don (Barbara) Garman of Marion; one sister, Evelyn Ferguson of Norwalk; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Garman and his siblings, Ivan J. (Jr) Garman and Dorothy Thelma (Sally) Strecker
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also visit Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church 1810 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky with Pastor David Hixson presiding. A private family committal service will be held at a later date.
