Ronald P. Johannsen

Ronald P. Johannsen, 67, residing in Norwalk, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2015 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ronald was born on August 5, 1947.

He graduated from Sandusky High School and was a computerized machinist technician at New Departure for 31 years. Ronald was a member of the American Legion and Erie County Conversation League. In his spare time, Ronald enjoyed working on engines of all kinds, being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and playing horseshoes, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes, always watching the games while drinking a Natural Light. His greatest joy in life was loving and teasing his granddaughters. Ronald was an organ donor, and will be helping over 100 people by his donation. An extremely proud United States Veteran, Ronald was a 101st Airborne Army Ranger during the Vietnam War.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 20 years, Billie (Feltner) Johannsen; daughter, Jennifer Johannsen of Berlin Heights; six sons, David (Donna) Johnston of Norwalk, Ron (Kelly) Johnston of Berlin Heights, Richard (Lisa) Johnston of Sandusky, Eric Johnston of Norwalk, Ronald Johannsen Jr of Berlin Heights, Jon (Denise) Johannsen of Berlin Heights; eleven granddaughters, Courtney, Emily, Cindy, Jillian and Ava Johnston and Tess, Madison, Marissa, Hannah, Faith and Shelby Johannsen; two great-grandsons, Keaton and Parker Burke; sisters, Beth Day of FL, Mary Ann (Gill) Lopez of IN, Sharon (Paul) Strain of TN, Susie (Jim) Blainey of Sandusky, and Pattie Hand of Huron; three brothers, Tom (Amy) Hahn of MI, John (Nancy) Hahn of Castalia and Bill (Marilyn) Hewitt of Kettering, OH; two brothers-in-law, Gary Feltner and Mike (Melissa) Feltner, both of Sandusky; mother-in-law, Joan Feltner of Norwalk; three dogs, Teddy, Gracie and Mr. Mud; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Ruth (Hahn) Johannsen and step-mother Irene Johannsen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870.
