Elwood J. "Woody" Matter, age 88, of Fremont passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at The Bellevue Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1926 in Sandusky the son of the late Leon and Edna (Cullen) Matter.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and Korean War era. He worked for NAPA Clyde Auto Parts for many years. Woody was a life member of the Clyde VFW, Clyde Eagles, and enjoyed dancing.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Matter of Bellevue, Tonya Matter-Gates of Bellevue; Grandchildren, Shelby Gates, Mike Gates, Jeff Matter Jr., and Jenna Keaton; Great grandchildren: Aleah Copeland, Jaxson Copeland; One brother, Dean Matter of Sandusky; Sisters, Melba Johns, June Illig, Marlene Pocock, all of Sandusky, and Patsy Swander of Salt Lake City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne "Bonnie" Heyman in 1993; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
