Samuel A. DeAngelo

Samuel A. DeAngelo, 73, passed away peacefully Friday, February 27, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

He was born and raised in Falconer, New York and graduated from Falconer High School in 1958 and Kent State University in 1962 with a degree in Labor Relations.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 33 years, retiring as a Superintendent in 1996. He then went on to work as a consultant for a number of years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Fraternal Order of Elks.

Sam was an avid golfer and bowler, most recently participating in the Elks Mens' Golf League and the Elks bowling league. Sam was also a long-time wrestling official. He was a supportive and beloved father and grandfather, who enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Beatrice (Pierce); daughter Christine and son-in-law Carl Engel of Rockport, MA; son Dominic and daughter-in-law Rebecca of Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter Carla and son-in-law Kevin Pelz of Sandusky; daughter Nicole and son-in-law Damon Dohar of Mineral Ridge, OH; and daughter Toni and son-in-law Chris Congeni of Akron, OH. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Abby and Jake Engel; Camille, Marisa, and Lea DeAngelo; Dominique, Kyle, and Gianna Pelz; DeAngelo and Delaney Dohar, and Samantha and Madeline Congeni.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances (Messina) DeAngelo and Dominic DeAngelo.

Friends may call Monday, March 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave, Sandusky with Fr. Michael Roemmele presiding. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
