Harlen "Wayne" Bailey

Harlen ‘Wayne' Bailey, 70 of Sandusky, Oh, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 28, 2015
at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, Oh.

Wayne was born Oct 3, 1944 in Haleyville, Al. to Harvey Steeter and Mathel ‘Lorine' (nee: Stover)Bailey. Both are deceased.

Wayne attended Bellevue Schools, Bellevue, Oh. His father with Wayne's step-mom, Nellie Alma (nee: Canida) Bailey raised Wayne with his sister, Sandra ‘Sandy'(Charley Baum) Bailey, in Bellevue. Wayne's step- mom, Nellie, died in 1999.
While In school, Wayne became an accomplished ‘Hawaiian' guitar player Because of his talents, he had the opportunity to appear on the "Ed Sullivan Show in the early 60's.

He was a veteran of the US Army, proudly serving his country during VietNam. Most of his time was spent in Korea as a Medic, and was honorably discharged Jan. 1965. Wayne moved to Wyandotte, MI. and took a position with Prudential Insurance Companies. He was the top agent in sales and received awards and recognition for the breaking standing sales records that lasted for many years. He had always wanted to be a business owner, also. He developed a chain of Beauty Shops called ‘Sheri's Beauty Salons'. Some of the salons had restaurants attached, which he advertised as a "Complete Relaxation Package Experience'. Wayne retired from Prudential Insurance with his record sales not being broken and intact. He sold his beauty shops/restaurants and moved to Ohio to be near family. In his entrepreneur years he studied at many colleges, wanting to always learn new things, take on challenges and to be prepared for new opportunities in his life. He loved to travel and meet new people. He never knew a stranger.

Surviving is his wife, Wanda (Lunsford, nee: Wieczorek), who he married Sept. 10, 2002, in Sandusky, OH. A son, Christopher W. Bailey, with his previous wife, Jean (Trosper) Bailey (now deceased,). 3 grandchildren: Mira, Christopher James, 'CJ' and Nellie Bailey. Half-sisters Betty 'Jean' (nee: Lance) Salisbury, Wyandotte, MI; Jimmie Lu (nee: Lance) Williamson, Southgate ,MI.; half-brother, Robert ‘Paul' Dasovich, Southgate MI.. Several nieces, nephew and cousins survive. Step-children, Tony Lunsford, Heidi (Lunsford) Chase, Tina Lynn Lunsford, Tonya L. Lunsford, Jeremy S. (Chivan) Lunsford, Jessica Lovella (Ryan Ritchie) Lunsford, Joshua Shane (Tiffany Rice) Lunsford. There are 24 Step- Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his previous wife, Jean (Trosper) Bailey,, sister; Mary Sue (nee:Lance) Cunningham; his maternal grandmother, Mary Lee White (nee: Sturgale); his step-father, Earnie Long, all of Wyandotte, MI. Paternal grandparents, Dolly and Charles Bailey, Double Springs, Al. and his Step-Mother, Nellie Alma (nee: Canida) Bailey Cook.

Calling hours, March 6, Friday, 12 noon until the funeral service begins at 2pm at Providence Baptist Church, 6994 Gardner Rd, Bellevue, OH, with Rev. Dan Duffy officiating.
