Miss Helen Rae Wice

A Celebration of Life service for Miss Helen Rae Wice, 88, will be held on Wednesday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson Street, Sandusky, OH, with the Reverend Dr. Robert Bottoms officiating.

Miss Wice was born on November 5, 1926, in Pemberville, OH, to Merrill Clifford and Romayne Louise (Martin) Wice and passed away January 8, 2015, at the Providence Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.

Miss Wice taught kindergarten and first grade for 30 years at Mills Elementary School, Sandusky, from which she retired in 1978. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, first at Pemberville Presbyterian Church and then at Sandusky First Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Pemberville High School and Bowling Green State University, Miss Wice was also a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Moreover, she was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Sandusky Business and Professional Women’s Organization. She enjoyed boating and attending social functions at the Sandusky Yacht Club with her special companion Mr. Charles Reinhold, who passed away in 1974.

Miss Wice was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Busdeker and Mrs. Clarence (Lorna) Hamen. She is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Helen'€™s Life at the church. It is suggested that memorials be given to Sandusky First Presbyterian Church, the Erie County Humane Society, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or a charity of the donor'€™s choice.

Miss Wice'€™s cremains will be interred at Webster Township Cemetery, Scotch Ridge, OH.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.
