Lucy Bernice Irby

Lucy Bernice Irby, 83, of Sandusky, made her transition from earth to glory on Friday, March 6, 2015, in Ohio Health Med Central Hospital, Mansfield, OH.

Lucy, who was affectionately called "Big Irby" by family and friends, was born on June 1, 1931, in Cartersville, GA to Coleman Lee and Bertha (Hyatt) Marshall. She came to Sandusky in 1951, where she met and married the late Lamon Irby, Sr.

She worked various jobs in Sandusky before retiring. Lucy loved entertaining family and cooking.

She was baptized in 1955 at Assembly of Jesus Christ Church.

Lucy is survived by her son, Pastor Lamon (Brenda) Irby, II; daughter-in-law, Evangelist Marguerite A. Irby; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Josephine Golden, Wilene Brown, and Mildred (Rev. Samuel) Mickles; brothers, Willie Gene "Bud" (Pat) Marshall, and Coleman "Fish" (Anita) Marshall, sisters-in-law, Helen Powell, and Mattie Sadie Pringle; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Minister Walter Lee Irby and Elder Willie Steve Irby; sisters, Mattie M. Brown and Lillie B. Shephard; and a grandson, Johnnie "Darren" Gresham.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 10 A.M. until time of her Celebration of Life service at 11 A.M. in Providence Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Elder Johnnie W. Cross will be the eulogist. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
