E.J. Wooten, Sr.

E.J. Wooten, Sr., 83, of Sandusky, departed this earthly life on Sunday March 8, 2015 at The Cleveland Clinic after a lengthy illness.

E.J. was born September 30, 1931 and raised in Senatobia, Mississippi.

While living there he worked numerous jobs. On December 28, 1953 E.J. married the late Anna Lue (Wilson) Wooten. To this union was born seven children. In 1957, E.J. and Anna moved their family to Sandusky, OH where E.J. took a job with the Ford Motor Company. He remained employed there until his retirement in 1995.
E.J. was baptized into Christ at an early age. He most recently worshipped at the East Parish Street Church of Christ in Sandusky, OH. Being a faithful Christian was very important to E.J. He and Anna made sure to raise their family in the same manner. A former trustee in the church, E.J. performed numerous tasks for the church and he remained a faithful member until his death.
E.J. greatly loved spending time with his large family. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, the family often competed in a playful "Steelers vs. Browns" rivalry. He loved to go fishing with his grandsons and hunting with his sons. Remaining close to his family was very important to E.J., which was why he frequently traveled down to Mississippi while his health permitted.

E.J. leaves to cherish his memory his children: Thelma Jean (Tommy) Johnson, Clarence (Anita Rodriguez), Stanley, Sr. (Triena), Patricia, Elijah Jr. (Rochelle), Steven (Monica), and Bruce, Sr. (Sandra); 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Anna in 2011, he was preceded in death by his sons, Mark, Sr. and Charles Jackson, two older sisters Henrietta Lowe and Ola Mae Reynolds, Special Aunt who helped raise him, Udella Wooten, and special cousin Loner Bell.

The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, March 13, 2015 at East Parish Street Church of Christ 1219 East Parish Street, Sandusky, OH 44870 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be Saturday March 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the church. There will be an additional service as well as burial at the Thyatira Church of Christ in Senatobia, MS on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. His son, Stanley Wooten, Sr. will officiate both services. Burial will be in Roberts Chapel, Coldwater, MS.
