Clarence "CH" Newton

Clarence "CH" Newton, 82, of Sandusky, passed away on Sunday evening, March 15, 2015 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.

He was born on September 17, 1932 in W. Virginia to the late Otto and Marguerite (Martin) Newton.

After graduating from high school, CH attended both Marshall University and the University of Maryland. He worked for many years as a licensed insurance agent.
CH was an Air Force veteran, serving as a radar technician from 1953-1957.

He loved playing dartball, Bocce, and cards. In his younger years, he loved to dance, and was well known in his circle of friends for his dancing ability. He frequented New Orleans and also loved to cook (he was known for spaghetti sauce, among many other things). To CH, family meant everything, and he cherished his time with them.

CH is survived by his sons, Brady, Terry (Kathy), and Kurt (Cheri) Newton, all of Sandusky; grandchildren, Amanda, Amy, Tim, Krystal, Leah, Westley, Garrett, and Josh; 12 great-grandchildren, including Josiah; and nephew, Doug (Michelle) Porter.

In addition to his parents, he was recently preceded in death by his wife of almost 57 years, Patricia Ordway Newton, whom he married on December 19, 1957, on December 1, 2014; and brother, Gordon "GT" Newton.

Friends may call on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 3-5 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A funeral service will begin at 5 P.M. with Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating. Those in attendance are welcome to join the family immediately following the service in the Toft Event Room. Committal services will be at 10 A.M. on Saturday in the Meadow Green Memorial Park Chapel, Huron.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in CH's memory be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
