Gladys (Gray) Collymore, 59, Charlotte, NC, formerly of Sandusky, was called home by the Lord to dwell in his mighty kingdom, on Thursday, March 31, 2011.
She was born on July 18, 1951 in Sandusky, Ohio to Elorise and Rebecca Gray, the oldest of nine children born of this union. Gladys accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Gladys was educated in the Sandusky public school system and graduated from Sandusky High School. In 1970, Deon Deshawn Gray was born to Gladys Gray and Ronald "Pepsi" Pickens. Years later, Gladys moved from Sandusky to Houston, TX and shortly after married Fitz Gerald "Fitz" Collymore, and to this union, Brittany Amelia Collymore was born in 1984. In Charlotte, Gladys worked for AmerisourceBergen , the Lash Group Division, as a reimbursement counselor.
Left to cherish her life, love, and memories are: son Deon (Ronna) Gray, Charlotte, NC; daughters, Brittany Collymore, Richmond, VA ,and Geraldine (Andrew) Bacchus, Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; mother Rebecca Gray, Sandusky, OH; sisters, Elnoria Gray, Houston, TX, Rene (Lonnie) Newell, and Alicia Gray, both of Sandusky, OH, Deadra (Phillip) Askew, Houston, TX; brothers, Elorise Gray, Dennis Gray, and Melvin Gray, all of Sandusky, OH; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elorise Gray, Sr.; and brother, Larry Gray.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, from 11:30 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in Providence Baptist Church, 222 Dixie Ave., Sandusky, OH. Rev. Scottie Aaron will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made to Levine Children�s Hospital, in the name of Darien Gray, P.O. Box 32861, Charlotte, NC, 28232-2861.
