Leo L. Stratton Sr., 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, March 26, 2015 at Lutheran Memorial Home after a lengthy illness.
Leo was born on October 16, 1929 in Sandusky, OH to the late Clyde and Frances (Schied) Stratton.
Leo was a Veteran of the Army Air Force who proudly served his country from 1945 to 1948. He retired from General Motors and was owner of Jimmy's Bar. Leo was a member of Holy Angel's Catholic Church, the former I.A.B. Club, the American Legion, AMVETS and the Sandusky Elks Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his family.
Leo is survived by his daughters, Ann (Dave) Ireland of Butler, PA, Charlene (Bill) May of Taviner, FL, Holly (Mike) Protzek of Reidsville, NC; sons, Leo (Frieda) Stratton Jr. of Castalia, William (Julie) Stratton of Sandusky, Paul (Sally) Stratton of Collins, OH, Mark Stratton of Sandusky, and Clyde Stratton of Augusta, MO; 15 grandchildren, Nathan (Lucy), David Lee, Amy (Todd), Stephanie (Chris), David Craig (Kim), Michelle (Jesse), Lisa (Kris), Mikaela (Tim), Brittany, Kristina (Ben), Melanie, Joshua (Megan) Christopher (Leah), Anne Elise and Timmy; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Leo is preceded in death by his second wife, Patricia (Kaufman) Stratton in 1998; twin, Leonard Stratton; brothers, Ed and Clyde Stratton and sisters, Louise Glassner, Margaret Fox and Betty Welty.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10:00 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky with Father Joe Steinbauer presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
