Donald L. Smith, 62, of Sandusky, passed away, Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on February 25, 1953 in Sandusky, and was a 1971 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School.
Don was a truck driver for many years, and most recently was employed by Distech Trucking.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, loved to watch NASCAR, boating, fishing, his dogs and spend time with his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Roderick) Smith, to whom he married November 18, 2005; sisters, Jean A. (Michael) Corbin, Sandusky, Marsha L. Smith, New York, and Sandra M. McNutt, Florida; brothers, Michael N. Smith, Jeffrey A. Smith, and James R. Smith, all of Sandusky; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene N. and Janet M. (Wentz) Smith, and a nephew, Michael S. Corbin in 1991.
At his request cremation has taken place. Friends may call on Monday, April 6, 2015, from 9 A.M. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M.in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Joseph Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, or to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
