Michael E. Curtis, 70, residing in Huron, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 7, 2015 at his residence after a brief illness.
Michael was born on May 18, 1944 in Sandusky, OH to the late Norman and Anna (Singleton) Curtis.
Michael graduated from Sandusky High School in 1962 where he played football for Earle Bruce. He received his bachelor's degree in business from the Northwood Institute in Michigan. He was employed with American Family Insurance as a damage estimator for 20 years before retiring in 2002. Michael was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and the Sandusky Elks Lodge #285. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work and being outside in the sun. Michael enjoyed all sports, especially football, and always loved spending time with his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lynda (Martin) Curtis, whom he married on December 29, 2001. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy (Brian) Wright of Cincinnati; son, Mike (Lisa) Chill of Huron; grandchildren, Morgan and Tyler Wright; sister Jill (Dave) Shrock of Marblehead and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Norman "Toby" Curtis and his sister, Linda Hoffman.
A memorial service will be conducted and announced at a later date at Emmanuel United Church of Christ with the Pastor Wayne Brockway officiating. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
At Michael's request, he gave the gift of body donation to aid in educational research for medical science.
