Martha L. Gerold, 89, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Martha was born on April 2, 1926 in Norwalk, OH.
Martha was a 1944 graduate of Huron High School. She was employed at the Trojan Powder Company (TNT Plant), Hinde and Dauch Paper Company and The American Crayon Company all in Sandusky. Martha was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, reading, especially collecting and reading cookbooks, traveling, following the Atlanta Braves, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her two sons, Dan Gerold and Steve (Theresa) Gerold, both of Sandusky; ten grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn, Rick, Todd, Sandy, Pat, Lynn, Chris, Jim and Kevin; several great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Marie Zoulo and Paulette Longo; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, George Williams and Dorothy (Jenkins) Williams - Schenker; husband, Hal Gerold, Sr; step-son, Hal Gerold, Jr; and one half-sister.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery, Huron, OH.
