Loretta V. Wheeler

Loretta V. Wheeler, 72, of Sandusky, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2015 while under the care of Stein Hospice.

Loretta was born on July 6, 1942, to the late Lorean (Bender) Dennis and Lee Dennis in Laurel, Mississippi, where she attended Eureka School System.

Loretta was employed by Union Chain where she medically retired in the late 1980's. She also worked at Barr Rubber as a factory worker for many years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sandusky Chapter.

Loretta accepted Christ at an early age and continued to live for Christ and her family throughout her life. She was the "glue" that kept the family together. To those who knew her best, they knew she truly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends and participating in church events. She had such compassion and concern for all who came in contact with her, giving words of encouragement and sound advice.

She is survived by her children; Wanda (Glenn Redding) Naylor-Pickens, Joyce (George Jr.) Kenley, and George Wheeler, Jr. all of Sandusky, Curtis (Angelia) Pope, Columbus, OH; step-children, Rosemary (Vernon) Crosby, Oakland, CA, Maryann (Homer) Curley, Indianapolis, IN and Danny Irby, New York; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; siblings, Willye Keys, Sandusky, Arristeen (John) Wilson, Lafayette, LA and Dorothy Boykins,, Hattisburg, MS; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Wheeler; parents; brothers, Frank Dennis, Frank James Dennis, Charles Dennis, and Lee Dennis, Jr.; and a sister in infancy.

Friends may call on Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 6-8 P.M. in Porters Memorial C.M.E. Church, 1722 Third St., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 P.M. in the church. Entombment will take place in Oakland Cemetery.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
