Dorothy M. Hanville, 86, of Sandusky, died early Friday morning, April 15, 2011 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1924 in Sandusky and was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. Dorothy was employed for 17 years at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Northcoast Community Church, Sandusky, UAW Local 913, Sandusky Orioles Club, and a past member of the Women of the Moose of Sandusky and Singara Caldron, No. 60.
She is survived by one sister-in-law: Anne Derby of Florida, eight nieces: Kathy Derby of Florida, Cynthia Garries, Arlene Black, Elizabeth "Beth" Alexander, Jeannie Rizzardi, Christine Brown, all of Michigan, and Pam (Paul) Warner of Sandusky, numerous great and great great nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends, including: Iola Russell, Lynette Galloway, and Alverta "Birdie" & Mike Luma.
She was preceded in death by her husband whom she married on August 11, 1946, Arnold D. Hanville in 1993, her parents: Charles & Lulu (Sprau) Stieve, one brother: Alvin "Bus" Stieve, who died serving his country during WW II, one sister: Geraldine Stieve in infancy, and one sister-in-law: Dorothy J. Hanville, who died on Feb. 28, 2011.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Oakland Cemetery Chapel, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to Northcoast Community Church, 2580 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
