Laura "Chris" Penwell, 94, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 in Gaymont Nursing Center, after a short illness.
She was born October 29, 1920 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Alex and Mary Starkey.
Laura was a member of the Norwalk Church of Christ and was a former employee of the Colonial Hotel, Berry's Restaurant, Star Diner, and Connie's Laundromat. She enjoyed puzzles and puzzle books, dancing, reading, taking care of her flowers, embroidery, and spending time with her family.
Laura is survived by her children, Ruby Ratliff of Vermilion, Ohio, Roy Penwell of Arizona, Phyllis (Walt) Heald of Norwalk, Ohio, Mary Tolle of Norwalk, Ohio, Helen (Darrell) Arbogast of Norwalk, Ohio, and Nancy Parkins.
She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Penwell, and by her sons, Robert Penwell, and Harley "Butch" Penwell.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Friends may also call on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
