Robert L. Schuster Sr., age 87, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 of natural causes at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 12, 1928 in Wellington to the late Martin and Frieda (Opplinger) Schuster.
He served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a crane operator for almost 40 years with Ohio Operating Engineers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, RV traveling and camping, visiting family across the country, gardening, telling jokes and playing pinochle, fishing, construction projects and was a member of the Huron Eagles aerie #2875.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia (Schuster) Plue of Sandusky, Scott Schuster of Norwalk, John (Michele) Schuster of Huron and Bob (Sue) Schuster Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Dustin, Tony and Stephanie Plue of Sandusky, Jessica Schuster of Dublin, Chelsea Schuster of New York, NY and Rob Zibbel of Lake Clark Shores, FL; five great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty L. (Opfer) Schuster in 2000; and son, Ron Schuster in 2013; and a grandson, Anthony Ketchmark in 2015.
Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. in the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Berlin Heights.
