Rev. Lonnie R. Walters

Rev. Lonnie R. Walters born May 31, 1952 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2015.

Rev. Walters was Pastor and Founder of Victory Temple, Inc., Sandusky, Ohio and the Founder of Victory Temple Soup Kitchen, Sandusky. Rev. Walters was ordained through World Ministerial Fellowship, Plano, Texas and World Harvest Church, Columbus, Ohio. He had won and been honored with the JCPenney's Golden Award, the Distinguished Men of Sandusky Award, The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award, the Sandusky Register Award, the American Red Cross Firelands Hero Award and many, many more for the works that he accomplished in Sandusky and the surrounding area. He was known as "A man the walks with God and God walks with him". He never saw one's color, status, or background. He fed thousands while providing opportunities to those that thought they had no future. Through God he opened doors where no one else could. He reached across boundaries that seemed impossible. His passion was that "every man would know the Lord as his personal Savior". In his spare time, he loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy; sons, Timothy (Marcia) Walters and David Luke (Carolynne) Walters; four grandchildren: Julia, Brooke, Andrew, and Jesse Walters. Sister, Phyllis (Charles) Wright; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Alta Walters.
