Lewis "Louie" D. John, 97, of Sandusky, passed away on Sunday morning, May 24, 2015 in Concord Care Center of Sandusky.
He was born on May 2, 1918 in Florence, Colo. to the late Thomas L. and Clara M. (Dull) John.
Lewis graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio in 1936. Lewis worked for the Lower Lake Docks for 45 years (1939-1984). He was a coin collector, loved to dabble in the stock market, and was a Third Degree Mason. A man of simple tastes, Lewis will be missed by his family.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas D. (Debra) John, of Sandusky, and Andrew S. John, of Castalia; grandchildren, Shelly N. Wallace and Daniel L. John, both of Sandusky; great-grandchild, Joseph T. Wallace, of Sandusky; niece, Mary (Marsrow) Brenenan, and her family, of Shippensburg, Penn.; and nephew, Scott Marsrow, and his family, of Allen, Tex.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Velda R. (Swartz) John, on Dec. 13, 2006; step-mother, Margery (Ruthsatz) John; sister, Erma (John) Marsrow; brother-in-law, Edwin Marsrow; and all of his childhood and lifetime friends.
There will be no viewing, and cremation will take place. Graveside committal services will be on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. in Castalia Cemetery.

Sandusky, OH 44870.
