Rodney E. Brown, 71, residing in Norwalk, passed away late Sunday evening, May 31, 2015, at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Rodney was born on January 31, 1944 in Norwalk, OH to the late Rodney and Esther (Martin) Brown.
He was employed at AJ Baltes for 15 years, and Stein Inc. for 25 years as a mechanic. Rodney was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers for over 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed his work, gardening and later in his life spending time with his family and his dog.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth (Butler) Brown, whom he married on January 8, 1966. He is also survived by his children, Michael Brown of Niles, MI, Kaleen (John) Lawrence of Sandusky and Roger (Erica) Brown of Burton, MI; grandchildren, Devin, Taylor, Matthew and Carley; great-grandchild, Elliot; sister, Mary Jane Strong of Norwalk; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and his beloved dog, Buster "Rocky" Brown.
In addition to his parents, Rodney is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Brown; sister, Patricia Herner; and mother-in-law, Alma Butler.
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 10:00 am at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron. Entombment will follow. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
