Gladys M. Giedeman, 90, of Sandusky died Monday afternoon, April 18, 2011 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born December 18, 1920 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Charles & Ida (Appel) Giedeman. Gladys graduated in 1938 from Sandusky High School and attended Sandusky Business College. She worked many years for Herbert F. Kesinger, M.D. She also worked for Philco Company, Good Samaritan Hospital, Sandusky Municipal Court, and the Bureau of Support. After retirement, she volunteered at Providence Care Center, the Commons of Providence, and the Sandusky Library. Gladys was a lifelong active member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ. She served on the Church Council, various committees, and was a member of the Elder Stephens and the Lunch Bunch.
She is survived by her godchild, Joanne Braun, nieces: Charlene Warner, Janice (John) Kuzmish, Kathleen (Paul) Ponsonby and nephew: James (Lisa) Giedeman. Gladys is also survived by other relatives and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and fun-loving spirit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth and her brother, Charles.
Friends may call Friday, April 22, 2011 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. Jerald Fenske will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen United Church of Christ or to the donor’s favorite charity. Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
