Russell Alan Farnsworth

Russell Alan Farnsworth, 71, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born October 6, 1943 in Oberlin, Ohio, to the late Kenneth A. and Harryette (Moore) Farnsworth, and attended Wellington High School.

Russell was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1963 to 1982. He was the Supply Store Keeper accompanying the USS Okinawa, the USS Oriskany, and the USS Ranger. Russell traveled the world during his service to his country. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked for La Mesa RV Parts and Supplies, and retired from R.V. Traders in Mesa, Arizona. He came to Norwalk, Ohio, in 2008. Russell was a member of the Eagles Aerie 2051 of Wellington, Ohio, and the Wellington American Legion. He enjoyed collecting scale model die cast cars, was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed his vinyl record collection and was a former stock car driver in Yuma, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Searles) Farnsworth of Norwalk, Ohio, by his children, Cathryn Jean (Max) Dunham of Yuma, Arizona, and by his son, Rusty Alan (Joni) Farnsworth of Phoenix, Arizona.

Russell is also survived by his step children, Brenda Johnson of Connecticut, and Brian Hamer of St. Louis, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, by his sister, Edna Gower of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and by his sister in law, Elizabeth J. Farnsworth of Wellington, Ohio.

Russell was preceded in death by his son, Charles A. Farnsworth in 2010, by brother, Kenneth Farnsworth, Jr., in 2010, and by his sister, Harryette E. (Cooper) Cornwall in 1998.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Russell's life will be held at a later date.
